skateboard trucks, skateboard decksMy oldest son is 16 and totally into skating.  He has several skateboard decks, extra skateboard trucks and skateboard wheels, and all of the skater clothing and hats.  This skateboarding sport has turned into a lifestyle.  They have their own style of clothing and shoes, hair styles, and even language.  When an old skateboard falls apart, my son takes the part that is good, the deck for example, and uses new skateboard trucks and wheels to make it work again.  He uses this skateboard until the deck has fallen apart completely and can't even replace the skateboard trucks or wheels.

There are many kinds of skateboard trucks, even different colors to match the board.  When you put a skateboard together, you put the skateboard trucks on first, then the wheels.  There are special screws and bearings to use on skateboard trucks.  If it's not assembled correctly, it won't work.  And you don't want it to fall apart in the middle of doing a trick! 

Skateboard trucks are the most vital part of the skateboard, since you can't put wheels onto a board without the skateboard trucks.
